Butterfield is the curator of "Verrocchio: Sculptor and Painter of Renaissance Florence," the first monographic exhibition in the United States to examine Verrocchio, one of the most influential teachers and artists of the early Renaissance. The exhibition opens at the National Gallery of Art on September 15 and continues through January 12, 2020. It includes roughly 50 works by Verrocchio and his students and collaborators, including Leonardo da Vinci, Domenico Ghirlandaio, and Pietro Perugino. The fantastic exhibition catalogue was published by the NGA and Princeton University Press. Amazon offers it for $60. On the second segment, Stephanie Syjuco discusses her work on the occasion of "Stephanie Syjuco: Rogue States," which opens at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis on September 6. The exhibition, which is on view through December 29, was curated by Wassan Al-Khudhairi with Misa Jeffereis. Syjuco is also included in "Less is a Bore: Maximalist Art & Design" at the Institute of Contemporary Art Boston through September 22. It was curated by Jenelle Porter with Jeffrey De Blois. |
